About Me

My name is Sierra Brock and I was an intern at SCG-Orthopaedics. Before this year I knew that I wanted to go into some kind of medicine. I was interested in sports medicine, physical therapy, and athletic training. It wasn't until this year that I knew exactly what I wanted to persue. I had the oppurtunity to learn a lot about different injuries and diagnoses. Now when I go into a patient's room with the doctor I listen to their symptoms and determine what I think might be the diagnosis and treatment plan. I then like to check myself with what my mentor says. It has been a great learning experience and I have loved every minute of it. Orthopaedic surgeons treat injuries to bones, ligaments, tendons, nerves, and muscles. They do not have to treat every injury surgically. It is cool to see the process of each patient, what does and doesn't work for them, and then how the doctor goes about their treatment plan. I have gotten the opputunity to follow most of the different doctors at my mentorship. It is interesting to see the difference in how each doctor approaches the patient and their problem. This mentorship has made me very excited for my future as a hopeful orthopaedic surgeon.
